On October 16, 2023, at approximately 10:30 p.m., deputies from the Greenville County Sheriff's Office responded to a reported shooting in the 300 block of Crosby Circle in Greenville, South Carolina. Upon arrival, they discovered 55-year-old Melissa Sears Jeffcoat suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the head. She was immediately transported to PRISMA Greenville Memorial Hospital in serious condition.
