In the quiet evening of October 16, 2023, the life of 55-year-old Melissa Sears Jeffcoat, a White female from Greenville, South Carolina, was irrevocably altered. Deputies from the Greenville County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the 300 block of Crosby Circle around 10:30 p.m. following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Melissa suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the head.
