On a tragic evening in Conway, South Carolina, the lives of a young mother and her daughter were cut short in a brutal act of violence. Three-year-old Bailey Simon and her 23-year-old mother, Tasjunique Graham, were shot in their Suggs Street home on September 28, 2020. When police arrived at the scene around 7:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a shooting, they found Tasjunique deceased from gunshot wounds.
Bailey was discovered in critical condition and was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
Despite the efforts of the medical team, Bailey succumbed to her injuries two days later, on September 30, 2020. The community was left to grapple with the senseless loss of a mother who was serving in the South Carolina National Guard and working in the nursing field, and her young daughter. Loved ones remembered Tasjunique and Bailey as a happy and kind pair, and no clear motive for the killings has ever been identified.
The investigation into the double homicide has been extensive, involving the Conway Police Department with assistance from Horry County and Myrtle Beach police departments, as well as the FBI. Bailey's father was ruled out as a suspect early in the investigation as he was incarcerated at the time of the incident. To date, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly named in the case. In an effort to generate new leads, the FBI has offered a reward of up to $10,000 for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the murders of Tasjunique Graham and Bailey Simon. Law enforcement officials have stated that a lack of cooperation from the public has been a significant challenge in solving the case and continue to urge anyone with information to come forward.
