In the quiet community of Conway, South Carolina, the lives of 54-year-old Diane Parker and her husband, Charles 'Charlie' Parker, 54, came to a brutal end on April 12, 2005. The couple was found fatally shot inside their farmhouse, a discovery made by their son, Charlie Parker Jr., that sent shockwaves through Horry County. The initial investigation into the double homicide was fraught with uncertainty, leaving the community fearful that a killer was at large.
Early in the
investigation, suspicion fell upon the Parkers' daughter, Bambi, and her boyfriend, Richard Gagnon. Investigators learned of arguments between the couple and their daughter concerning the custody of Bambi's child and a potential dispute over family land. This led to the arrest of both Bambi and Gagnon for the murders. While charges against Bambi were eventually dropped, Gagnon was convicted and sentenced to 30 years in prison. The conviction was largely based on specks of blood found on his shoe and the testimony of a jailhouse informant who later recanted his story.
Despite Gagnon's conviction, a crucial piece of evidence from the crime scene remained a mystery: unidentified blood droplets that did not match Gagnon's DNA. Hill's accomplice, Khalil Moore, was also arrested in connection with the murders.
