In the winter of 2021, the life of 58-year-old Charles LeRoy Foster of Spartanburg, South Carolina, was tragically cut short. On January 15th of that year, Foster was fatally shot at a residence on Asheville Highway. An altercation preceded the deadly shooting, marking a violent end to what began as a dispute. This incident was recorded as the first homicide of the year in Spartanburg.
Charles LeRoy Foster, born on April 16, 1962, was a man with deep roots in the Spartanburg community.
He was a father to five children and a cherished grandfather. Known for his sense of humor and love for riding mopeds, Foster had been employed at Inman Mills, Asheville Highway Rental, and Adidas. He was a member of the Harrison Grove Baptist Church in Roebuck.
The investigation into Foster's death led to the arrest of Scotty Wilson Jr. In a subsequent court case, Wilson pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter for his role in the shooting. As a result of his guilty plea, Scotty Wilson Jr. was sentenced to 20 years in prison for the death of Charles LeRoy Foster.
