In the winter of 2021, a young life was abruptly cut short in Greer, South Carolina. Zakiya Synercia Drinkard-McKinney, a 19-year-old Black female, was fatally shot on the evening of February 8th at the Poplar Place Apartments. The Greenville County Coroner's Office confirmed that she died at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds. Another person was also injured during the incident and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
