On a Friday afternoon, May 16, 2003, in Greer, South Carolina, a sequence of events unfolded that would leave a lasting scar on the community. Margaret 'Maggie' Barnes, a 58-year-old white female, and her husband of 38 years, Dr. James Elbert 'Eb' Barnes, were victims of a brutal triple homicide during a robbery at the Blue Ridge Savings Bank. The third victim was a bank teller, Sylvia Sudduth Holtzclaw.
