On April 6, 2021, 18-year-old Lydia Abigail "Abby" Thompson of Florence, South Carolina, was tragically killed in a shooting incident. The event occurred before 6 p.m. on U.S. Highway 76 near Alligator Road, where multiple shots were fired into a vehicle that subsequently veered into an open field.
