On a late summer evening in Georgetown, South Carolina, the life of 38-year-old Ben Franklin Jr. was tragically cut short. On Monday, August 23, 2021, Franklin and a companion, 25-year-old Kiashia Green, were violently attacked in the Oatland community. The Georgetown County Sheriff's Office received a call around 10 p.m. reporting a shooting on Sutton Road.
Upon their arrival, deputies were met with a grim scene.
Inside a home, they discovered Green, who had already succumbed to her injuries. Franklin, though gravely wounded by gunfire, was still alive. Emergency medical services were immediately dispatched, and he was rushed to Georgetown Memorial Hospital in a desperate attempt to save him.
