On a winter evening in North Charleston, South Carolina, the lives of two young men were tragically cut short. Twenty-one-year-old Jasmond Grant and seventeen-year-old Damarion Champagne were discovered deceased on December 27, 2021, inside a burning apartment on Sumner Avenue. First responders, initially alerted to a shooting, arrived to find the residence engulfed in flames.
