In the late spring of 2022, the city of Anderson, South Carolina, was marked by a sudden act of violence that claimed the life of 50-year-old Leo Aleman Hipolito. On the evening of May 26th, Hipolito was riding his bicycle near the intersection of Keys Street and Pearman Street when he was struck by a fatal gunshot wound to the head. The Anderson County Coroner's Office responded to the scene and pronounced him deceased, officially ruling his death a homicide.
