In the quiet community of Conway, South Carolina, the life of 17-year-old Joshua McPherson of Florence was tragically cut short on a Sunday in late May. On May 29, 2022, gunshots echoed through the Coastal Club Apartments on Highway 544, leaving the young man fatally wounded. McPherson was rushed to a nearby hospital but ultimately succumbed to his injuries, a life full of promise extinguished far too soon.
A student at Wilson High School, he was a talented middle linebacker with aspirations for the upcoming football season.
The investigation into the shooting quickly led to the apprehension of five individuals. Among them was 19-year-old Fanotti Nacier Neal, who faced charges of murder and first-degree burglary. Arrest warrants indicated that Neal had unlawfully entered the residence with the intent to commit a violent crime, during which McPherson was shot and killed with malice aforethought before Neal fled the scene.
Also taken into custody were 19-year-old Charrel Nissasani Floyd and 19-year-old Ky'lesha Iyonna Mack, both charged with accessory after the fact to murder and first-degree burglary. According to warrants, Floyd admitted to being with her codefendants before and after the incident, fully aware that a crime had been committed, yet failed to notify the authorities.
The investigation also implicated two juveniles in the crime. One of the minors was charged with murder and first-degree burglary, while the other faced charges of accessory after the fact of murder and first-degree burglary.
