In the summer of 2022, a violent encounter in North Charleston, South Carolina, ended the life of 67-year-old Jagdishbhai Patel. The incident took place at the Charleston Heights Motel on Rivers Avenue, a business that Patel owned. On the evening of June 25, Patel was in the motel's main office with his wife when an altercation occurred. During the dispute, he was shot in the head.
