In the summer of 2022, a tragic incident in North Charleston, South Carolina, claimed the life of 13-year-old Micah Lamon-Zyarion Simmons Jr., a Black male. The community was shaken on July 21, 2022, when the young teen from Goose Creek was found with a fatal gunshot wound at a residence on Pinehurst Street. Emergency services were quick to respond, and Micah was swiftly transported to Trident Medical Center in an effort to save his life.
Despite the medical team's efforts, he ultimately succumbed to his injury.
