Mae Edith Burgess, a 72-year-old resident of New Zion, South Carolina, was found dead in her home on December 13, 2022. Her death was ruled a homicide by investigators. According to reports, Mae Burgess was last seen alive around 12:30 p.m. on December 12, 2022. The Clarendon County Sheriff's Office, along with the Sumter County Sheriff's Office and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED), launched an investigation into her death.
