On a crisp December morning, the day after Christmas in 2022, the life of 40-year-old Matthew Earl Roach of Elgin, South Carolina, was tragically cut short. An avid outdoorsman, he was on the grounds of the Shivers Green Hunt Club in the rural landscape of Ridgeway, a place where he was a member and likely found solace in nature. What began as a day of hunting turned into a scene of sorrow when a 911 call was placed at approximately 11:10 a.m., reporting that a man had been shot.
