In the quiet town of Ridgeway, South Carolina, the community was shaken by the unexpected death of 50-year-old Edward G. McClurklin. A man known for his warm and friendly personality, he departed this life suddenly on Thursday, February 5, 2015, at his residence on Highway 34 East. Family members discovered his body, and it was soon determined that he had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head.
Initially, the scene suggested a home invasion, as the front door of Mr.
McClurklin's home had been forcibly kicked in. Investigators found him in his bed, leading them to believe he was likely asleep when the fatal shot was fired. However, the investigation quickly turned its focus toward his girlfriend, 23-year-old Kitoria Shapel Glenn of Greenwood.
Investigators learned that Glenn had been at McClurklin's home the night before his death. They located her at her mother's apartment in Greenwood and brought her back to Fairfield County for questioning. During the interview, Glenn confessed to shooting McClurklin after a domestic dispute that occurred around 4:30 in the morning. She admitted to firing two shots, with only one striking and killing him. Based on her confession, Kitoria Shapel Glenn was arrested and charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. A judge subsequently denied her bond, and she was held at the Fairfield County Detention Center.
