Dan Lance, who served as the Town Marshal of Morehouse, Missouri, tragically lost his life on January 13, 1903. The incident occurred while Marshal Lance and Deputy Marshal John Taylor were attempting to break up a disturbance at a dance. The disturbance was caused by two intoxicated brothers. During the altercation, Marshal Lance was shot and killed instantly, while Deputy Taylor was stabbed and critically wounded.
