Nicholas Kevin Sloan, a 24-year-old police officer with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, tragically lost his life on January 30, 2004, while conducting a narcotics operation. Officer Sloan and his partner were participating in a federal Weed and Seed Program, which aimed to reduce crime in targeted neighborhoods. The operation took place near the intersection of North Taylor Avenue and Enright Avenue in St. Louis, Missouri.
