Melvin Bernard "Beau" Griesbauer, aged 48, was found dead on March 23, 2006, outside his home in rural Novinger, Missouri. He died from a single gunshot wound to the head, and a Winchester .30-30 rifle was found next to his body. The initial investigation and autopsy confirmed that his death was a homicide.
