On the afternoon of Monday, February 3, 2014, the body of 39-year-old Alando Lee Scott was discovered in the Holly Hills neighborhood of South St. Louis, Missouri. Officers were dispatched to the 7800 block of Goya Place, near the intersection of Alaska Avenue and Primm Street, around 3:00 p.m. following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, first responders found Scott lying on the ground next to his vehicle with the driver’s side door standing open.
Investigators determined that Scott had sustained fatal gunshot wounds to the head and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Homicide detectives immediately began canvassing the area for leads, and witnesses provided a description of a potential suspect. The individual was described as a thin Black male, approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing between 130 and 140 pounds. Police also received reports that a newer model, two-door black Nissan Altima or Acura might have been involved in the incident.
In the months and years following the murder, Scott's family worked to keep the case in the public eye, raising money to increase the reward offered by CrimeStoppers for information leading to an arrest and conviction. Despite these efforts and the release of suspect descriptions, the case remained classified as an unsolved homicide by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department years later. As of the last major public updates in 2018, no arrests had been made in connection with Alando Lee Scott's death.
