Do you know who murdered Lendell Sinclair? In May of 2010, concern grew for 53-year-old Lendell R. Sinclair after he had not been heard from for a week. His last known whereabouts were at a local hospital's emergency room where he had sought treatment for hip pain. On May 13, 2010, deputies from the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to perform a welfare check at a residence located at 8405 S.
Ida Avenue, the home of his sister and brother-in-law where he had been living for the past nine years.
Upon their arrival, the deputies made a grim discovery. Lendell Sinclair was found deceased at the bottom of a 14-step flight of carpeted stairs on the main floor landing. While an initial obituary stated that Mr. Sinclair, a Spirit employee and a proud Marine, had passed away from a fall in the home, his death is considered an unsolved case by law enforcement. The Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office has included his case in a cold case initiative, appealing to the public for any information that might bring closure to his family.
To date, no arrests have been made in connection with the death of Lendell Sinclair, and no suspects have been publicly identified. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death remains open. He was survived by his three children, his mother, two brothers, and two sisters. A memorial service was held for him on May 19, 2010, and he was buried with military honors.
