In the early morning hours of September 1, 2015, the life of 19-year-old DeAngelo A. Porchia was tragically cut short in Kansas City, Missouri. Responding to reports of a shooting shortly before 2 a.m., police arrived at a residence in the 5200 block of St. John Avenue, across the street from Budd Park. There, on the front porch, they found the young man suffering from gunshot wounds.
Witnesses in the area told investigators they had heard several gunshots just before Porchia was
discovered. Despite the swift response of emergency services, he succumbed to his injuries and died a short time after being found. Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators spent the morning at the scene, gathering evidence and trying to piece together the events that led to the fatal shooting.
In the immediate aftermath, the Kansas City Police Department issued a public plea for information, urging anyone with knowledge of the shooting to come forward and contact the TIPS Hotline. However, despite their efforts, no suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been announced in connection with the murder of DeAngelo A. Porchia. His case is now considered a cold case, one of the many unsolved homicides that continue to trouble the city. The investigation into who is responsible for his death remains open.
