In the midst of mourning, a family dispute outside a St. Louis funeral home escalated into a tragedy that claimed the life of 39-year-old George Calmese Jr. On August 8, 2016, Calmese was attending his cousin's funeral when a disagreement over the custody of the deceased's young daughter erupted in the parking lot of the Reliable Funeral Home. Calmese intervened in an attempt to mediate the situation.
