In the late hours of a December night in Saint Louis, Missouri, the life of 25-year-old Dorwin Anthony Overall was tragically cut short. On December 2, 2016, at approximately 11:00 PM, a violent encounter unfolded in the Bellefontaine Neighbors area. Overall, a Black male, was caught in the crossfire of a gun battle that erupted between two moving vehicles in the 11000 block of Bellefontaine Road.

When police responded to the scene at the intersection of Bellefontaine Road and Gabriel, they discovered a grim scene. Dorwin Overall was found suffering from gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the location. He was not the only victim of the shootout; two other individuals were also struck by bullets. One was found at the scene and transported to a hospital for treatment, while a third victim was located later and also received medical care.

In the wake of the shooting, the Bellefontaine Neighbors Police Department enlisted the help of the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis to lead the homicide investigation. Despite the efforts of law enforcement, the individuals in the other vehicle who were involved in the fatal exchange of gunfire have never been identified. To date, no suspects have been named in the death of Dorwin Overall, and no arrests have been made in connection with the case. The investigation remains open as authorities continue to appeal to the public for any information that might bring a resolution to the case and provide answers for his family.
