A 20 year old man is killed while pulled over on the side of a remote road In the early morning hours of June 12, 1994, the life of 20-year-old Delmar Wilson, a Caucasian male, was tragically cut short in Hardinsburg, Indiana. A quiet and well-liked young man, Delmar had recently graduated from Paoli High School in 1992 and was working as an inspector at Hillcrest Manufacturing. Friends and family remember him as someone who enjoyed the outdoors, particularly hunting and fishing.
The night of his death, Delmar had dropped his girlfriend off at her home around 1:00 a.m., a location only about two miles from where his body would later be discovered. This was the last time he was seen alive.
Later that morning, at approximately 7:50 a.m., a passerby made a grim discovery on Radcliff Road, a remote road south of U.S. 150. Delmar Wilson was found in the driver's seat of his white 1987 Chrysler, which was parked in the roadway with its headlights still on. He had been shot once in the head at close range. Investigators noted that his foot was still on the brake pedal, suggesting a sudden and unexpected confrontation. There was no evidence of robbery, and the weapon used in the murder was not found at the scene. Indiana State Police believe that Delmar likely knew his attacker and was possibly lured to the secluded location.
Despite the passage of time, Delmar Wilson's murder remains unsolved, and no arrests have ever been made in the case. Over the years, law enforcement has made several public appeals for information, including airing a reenactment of the crime on Crime Stoppers in August 1994. Delmar's former high school classmates have also held a memorial service to appeal for clues. The Indiana State Police continue to investigate the cold case, holding onto the belief that someone has information that could finally bring justice to Delmar and his family. A reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for his death.
