In the early morning hours of March 17, 2024, the life of 32-year-old LilDon Young Block Williams, a male musician from Louisville, was violently cut short in what police have described as a targeted ambush. The fatal encounter unfolded in the parking garage of the Caesars Southern Indiana Hotel & Casino in Elizabeth, Indiana. Williams, a rapper known as Young Block, had just finished a concert performance in his hometown of Louisville and had traveled to the casino with his family.
Unbeknownst to Williams and his companions, they were being followed. Surveillance footage from the casino would later show a dark-colored passenger car trailing them into the parking structure. For approximately three hours, the occupants of that vehicle lay in wait. When Williams eventually left the casino and walked towards his car alone, two assailants, masked and carrying rifles, emerged from the shadows. They pursued him through the upper deck of the parking garage, cornered him, and opened fire, striking him multiple times. The brazen attack ended with Williams succumbing to his injuries at the scene, marking the first homicide at the casino in its more than two-and-a-half-decade history.
The investigation that followed moved swiftly, piecing together evidence from surveillance cameras and cell phone data. Authorities identified two suspects who fled the scene, one in the car they arrived in and the other in Williams's own 2013 Dodge Charger. The intricate trail of digital evidence led police to Antwaun Proctor, who was arrested on April 24. Proctor later pleaded guilty to his role in the murder and was sentenced to 45 years in prison.
The second suspect, Chaz Davis, was also identified by investigators. Charges, including murder and robbery, were filed against him in July 2024. At the time the charges were announced, Davis was already incarcerated in Kentucky on unrelated offenses, awaiting extradition to Indiana to face the allegations against him. While a definitive motive has not been officially declared, prosecutors have suggested that the killing of LilDon Williams may have been an act of revenge connected to a previous slaying.
