Edward Crawford, a 27-year-old resident of St. Louis, Missouri, gained national attention during the Ferguson protests in 2014 when he was photographed throwing a tear gas canister away from protesters. This iconic image symbolized the resistance against police brutality following the shooting of Michael Brown. On May 4, 2017, Crawford was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound while seated in the back of a moving car.
