In July 2017, the body of Karen Harmeyer, a 64-year-old white female, was discovered inside a tent in a wooded area of Grandview, Missouri, just south of Kansas City. For years, she had lived a transient lifestyle, residing in a makeshift camp situated behind a church near Blue Ridge Boulevard and Grandview Avenue.
