On a late summer afternoon in Kansas City, Missouri, the life of 36-year-old Marcell T. Smith was tragically cut short. On Friday, September 8, 2017, at approximately 3:40 p.m., Smith was shot and killed near the intersection of East 54th Street and Park Avenue. When police arrived at the scene, they found him in the street; he was pronounced dead at the location. His death marked the city's 106th homicide of that year.
