In the autumn of 2017, the community of Joplin, Missouri, marked the passing of Edward Duane 'Eddie' Morlock. A man of 51 years, he was a familiar face to many, having moved to the city as a child. His life came to an end on Sunday, October 15, 2017, at his residence in Joplin.
Born in Howell, Michigan, on July 23, 1966, Morlock later graduated from Joplin High School in 1987.
He dedicated his working years to the vehicle service industry, initially at Truck World and later as a mechanic and body repairman for Peterbilt of Joplin. He was a man who knew his way around engines and the intricacies of vehicle repair, a skill he honed over several years.
He had built a life in Joplin, marrying Christie Roach on his birthday in 1988. Together they had a daughter. However, tragedy had struck the family years earlier when his wife preceded him in death in March of 2012.
Following his death, an investigation into the circumstances was conducted. The Joplin Globe reported that authorities ultimately ruled his death a suicide. Consequently, there were no suspects or arrests in connection with his passing. The community was left to remember a life that had ended, leaving behind his daughter, mother, and siblings.
