Derek W. McClain, a 25-year-old resident of Grandview, Missouri, was tragically found dead on February 8, 2018. His body was discovered inside a black 2015 Chevrolet Equinox, which was parked with the engine running in a parking lot near 119th Street and Newton Avenue. McClain had suffered a fatal gunshot wound, and his death was immediately classified as a homicide by the Grandview police.
