Charles R. Pelton, an 18-year-old from Kansas City, Missouri, tragically lost his life on July 8, 2019. He was shot and killed near a church basketball court in the 1400 block of East 103rd Street. Surveillance footage captured a silver SUV approaching the basketball court and opening fire, resulting in Pelton's death. This incident was part of a particularly violent Fourth of July weekend in Kansas City, which saw multiple homicides.
