In the afternoon hours of October 21, 2019, a burst of gunfire shattered the quiet of a residential street in University City, a suburb of Saint Louis, Missouri. When police responded to reports of shots fired near the intersection of Kingsland Avenue and Corbitt Avenue around 3:45 p.m., they discovered 19-year-old David Anderson Jr. in the yard of a home on Kingsland, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
