On a tragic evening in a St. John, Missouri, Applebee's, 46-year-old Kimberly Ratliff-Penton's life was cut short in a senseless act of violence. It was Monday, June 22, 2020, and Ratliff-Penton was at the restaurant with her best friend when a gunman opened fire. The mother of two was fatally wounded in what investigators have described as a random attack. Two other women were also shot and injured during the incident, including a 20-year-old off-duty firefighter who was critically wounded.
