The 58-year-old Black female was fatally shot during an incident that law enforcement connected to a broader string of gun violence affecting the neighborhood that day. Officers responded to the scene in the northern section of the city, where they discovered Johnson suffering from a gunshot wound.
Despite emergency efforts, she succumbed to her injuries, marking a tragic loss for her family and the local community.
The investigation by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department revealed that Johnson’s death occurred in close proximity to another shooting just blocks away, where a man was wounded but survived.
