On the evening of Tuesday, October 13, 2020, law enforcement officials in Carthage, Missouri, were alerted to a violent disturbance in a residential area. The man was identified as 30-year-old John Cody Morgan Jr., a resident of the area who was known to friends and family as Cody. Despite the swift response of emergency personnel, the severity of his injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities quickly secured the area, cordoning off the alley to preserve evidence as detectives began the meticulous process of documenting the crime scene and interviewing potential witnesses.
