On the morning of Sunday, November 8, 2020, authorities in St. Louis, Missouri, began a homicide investigation following the discovery of a deceased male in the northern section of the city. Officers from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched at approximately 7:04 a.m. to an alleyway located near the intersection of Dr. Martin Luther King Drive and Marcus Avenue.
Upon their arrival at the scene, which sits on the border of the Lewis Place, The Ville, and Kingsway East neighborhoods, they located the body of a man who had sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
The victim was subsequently identified by police as twenty-eight-year-old Robert Lee Jackson. Although he was discovered in the city, investigators determined that he was a resident of Spanish Lake, a community located in St. Louis County. At the time of the discovery, police were also processing a secondary crime scene just south of the alley where a silver sedan had crashed into an earth mover in a field. Detectives searched both the alley where Jackson was found and the crash site for potential evidence linked to the shooting.
In the immediate aftermath of the incident, homicide detectives worked to piece together the events leading to Jackson's death. Public appeals were made for anyone with information to contact the department's Homicide Division or CrimeStoppers. Despite the launch of the investigation, initial reports indicated that no suspects had been taken into custody and no motives were immediately released to the public regarding the circumstances of the shooting.
