In the late afternoon of a summer day in St. Louis, tragedy struck 28-year-old Jalonte Riley. On June 24, 2021, in the 3900 block of Olive Street in the city's Central West End, Riley was found suffering from gunshot wounds. The call to police was made around 4:35 p.m., reporting a shooting in the area. When officers arrived, they discovered Riley in a grassy area with wounds to his torso and arm.
