In the early morning hours of September 12, 2021, authorities in St. Louis, Missouri, were called to a scene in the Downtown West neighborhood following reports of a shooting. Around 2:00 a.m., police officers arrived at the 1300 block of Convention Plaza, located near North 13th Street, where they discovered an unresponsive individual lying in the street.
The area, typically quiet at that hour, became the center of a homicide investigation as first responders assessed the situation.
The victim was identified as 22-year-old Dajuan Love Jr., a male resident of Florissant who lived in the 1200 block of Aspen Drive. Upon examination, it was determined that he had sustained fatal gunshot wounds to his torso and leg. Despite the arrival of emergency personnel, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department’s homicide division launched an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the shooting. At the time of the initial reports and subsequent updates in early 2022, investigators had not identified any suspects or determined a motive for the violence. No arrests were immediately made in connection with the case, and police continued to appeal to the public for any information regarding the incident.
