In the late evening of July 6, 2019, 28-year-old Sedrick Rayan Crenshaw left his residence on Atkins Drive in Nashville, Tennessee. He intended to walk the roughly seven to ten-mile distance to see his girlfriend at a Mapco gas station on Smith Springs Road. Crenshaw did not own a car and was accustomed to walking long distances or utilizing public transportation. According to his roommate, he had been consuming alcohol before he departed.
