Travis "Sean" Hunt, a 26-year-old man from Ackerman, Mississippi, was last seen on August 11, 2019. Hunt left his grandmother's home on Concord-Bethsalem Road in rural Choctaw County, walking alone on MS Highway 15, approximately seven miles south of Ackerman. He was last seen wearing blue jeans but no shirt or shoes. Hunt, who suffers from bipolar disorder with mania and psychotic features, left behind his phone, wallet, and medication, suggesting that he might have intended to return home, though he never did.
Authorities conducted extensive searches, including bringing in K9 teams, though the extreme August heat hindered the search efforts. Additionally, the case took an unusual turn when Hunt’s family received a ransom call, but this did not lead to any breakthroughs. Hunt had previously been treated at East Mississippi State Hospital, and his family continues to express concerns for his safety, noting that he was not a threat to others but potentially to himself due to his medical condition.
Despite the efforts, his whereabouts remain unknown, and anyone with information is urged to contact the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation or local authorities.
