Andrew Stetler, a 19-year-old from Stockton, California, went missing on December 24, 1982, while on a duck hunting trip with his friend, Chris Anderson. The two young men set off early in the morning in an 8-foot fiberglass rowboat to hunt in the Webb Tract area of the San Joaquin Delta. When they did not return that evening, their families alerted authorities.
A search ensued, and the men's pickup truck was found near the Delta in Sacramento County.
The boat was later discovered washed ashore near the Mokelumne River and Potato Slough, but there was no sign of Andrew or Chris. The search continued for several days, but their bodies were never recovered. It is believed that both men were lost to the dangerous conditions in the Delta waterways.
