Matthew Moribe, a 39-year-old experienced fisherman, went missing on March 17, 2019, while fishing on his 18-foot boat approximately 24 miles south of Oahu. Moribe was attempting to reel in a fish when he fell overboard and submerged underwater. Despite an extensive search by the U.S. Coast Guard and local authorities, including aerial and water efforts, he was never located. The search was called off after several days, and Moribe remains missing, presumed lost at sea.
