Inside the bag, authorities found her wallet, driver's license, debit card, cash, car keys, and phone charger. It later came to light that just a day prior, on January 17, 2020, a warrant for a probation violation had been issued for Keeslyn after she missed a scheduled meeting with her probation officer.
Two days after the incident at the truck stop, Keeslyn's family, unable to get in contact with her, began their own search. Their efforts led them to the parking lot of the same Flying J, where they discovered her white Toyota Corolla abandoned in a far corner. Most of her personal belongings were found inside the vehicle, but Keeslyn was nowhere to be found. Her father noted that the driver's seat was pushed back further than she would have had it, suggesting someone taller may have driven the car last. The family reported her missing to the Murray County Sheriff's Office that day. The search for clues continued, and in March 2020, some of Keeslyn's clothing was found in a fern bush behind a dumpster in the truck stop's parking lot. Her cell phone, however, has never been located.

He was tragically found deceased in a wooded area several miles away in February 2020.
