In the late hours of Valentine's Day 2020, the story of Adrian Cox, Jr.'s disappearance began to unfold on a stretch of Interstate 49 in Louisiana. The 20-year-old was driving a stolen black Nissan Altima when law enforcement initiated a pursuit south of Natchitoches. The chase continued for 22 miles before the vehicle crashed into a tree just south of Ajax, between mile markers 151 and 153. Following the crash, Adrian fled the scene, vanishing into the dense, swampy woodlands that bordered the interstate. The night was cold, with temperatures reportedly dropping into the 20s, adding a layer of urgency and concern for his well-being as he disappeared into the challenging terrain. The last known contact with Adrian came at 9:16 p.m. that same evening, when he managed to make a phone call to his family. In that final, brief communication, he told them he was lost in the woods. Shortly after the call, his phone's battery died, severing his only link to the outside world and leaving his family in a state of deep distress. In the immediate aftermath of his disappearance, authorities launched an extensive search of the vast and difficult area. Despite the deployment of ground teams, K-9 units, ATVs, and even searchers on horseback, no sign of Adrian was discovered. A rumor circulated that he may have been picked up by a female friend, but his family has consistently denied this, stating they have no information to support such a claim. Adrian Cox, Jr. is described as a Black male, standing at 5'10" and weighing between 130 and 162 pounds at the time he went missing. He had black hair styled in medium-length dreadlocks and brown eyes. His appearance is distinguished by numerous tattoos, including full sleeves on both arms. Among his tattoos are the name "Louisiana" on one forearm, a large music note on the other, and a spiderweb on his elbow. The investigation into his disappearance has been handled by the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office. Years have passed since the night he ran into the woods, and his case has grown cold, leaving his family with unanswered questions and an enduring sense of loss. The official search efforts have long since concluded, yet the mystery of what happened to Adrian Cox, Jr. after he crashed that car and made his final phone call from the dark, swampy Louisiana woods remains painfully unsolved.
