In the late fall of 1999, a sense of unease settled over the family of James Edward Abell, a 39-year-old man from Aynor, South Carolina. On November 13th of that year, he departed from his residence with the stated intention of traveling to the nearby coastal city of Myrtle Beach. Abell, who made a living selling cars, was reportedly on a mission to collect on some outstanding debts.
