Michael David McChesney, a 40-year-old resident of Cupertino, California, was last seen on January 31, 2021. Upset about his family moving out of their home, he left his residence around 5:00 p.m. that day. His mother reported him missing at midnight when he failed to return. The next day, on February 1, patrol officers encountered McChesney twice on the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. Around 3:05 a.m., officers observed him walking on the east sidewalk of the bridge.
He was seen climbing over the southeast gate but disappeared from view shortly after. It is believed that McChesney may have jumped from the bridge, though his body has not been recovered.
McChesney was last seen wearing a black and blue windbreaker, black pants, and black boots. He had brown hair, blue eyes, and was missing a top front tooth. At the time of his disappearance, he typically wore his hair in a ponytail and had sideburns.
