Joseph Matthew Johnson, a 44-year-old from Carolina Beach, North Carolina, was last seen on November 22, 2021. He left the Federal Point Yacht Club around 11 a.m. that day aboard his 19-foot boat, intending to go fishing. When he failed to return for a planned fishing trip on November 27, he was reported missing. His cellphone was last traced near Bald Head Island that evening.
