Warren David Hawkins, a 21-year-old from Kelso, Washington, was last seen alive on July 6, 1986. His disappearance remained a mystery for nearly four decades until his remains were discovered in a shallow grave near Piercy, California, in October 2012. The remains were found with feet protruding from the ground and sneakers pointing skyward, leading to the case being dubbed the "Skeleton in Sneakers" case.
