John D. Neubauer, a 46‑year‑old Caucasian man from Kelso, Washington, disappeared on **February 24, 2016**, after telling friends he intended to swim across the **Cowlitz River**. He ventured about halfway across the river, but strong currents swept him downstream. He vanished underwater and was never seen again.
